Other missions impose a time limit for a first stage of the task, which is usually no more than 10 minutes, after which you usually steam roll over the enemy - or else they steam roll over you. And that's before stuff like the Nuclear Missile are introduced, which, if not stopped in under 10 minutes, might wipe out your entire base. The mission par times are almost exclusively ridiculously high - 45 minutes, an hour, 90 minutes, two hours - when the AI makes sure that if you take longer than maybe 20-30 minutes tops in most missions, you'll get run over eventually. If I have one overall complaint is that the game's AI and mission design is quite aggressive. What I found frustrating is that a few missions require you to do a very specific thing in a very specific way, and you might keep failing the mission until you figure it out - save scumming helps. I felt like maybe too many missions rely on Tanya and a stealthy approach, but then again they keep things fresh. The Allied campaign isn't quite as silly as the Soviet one, but it's still very corny (yay!) and more than a little male-gazey (yikes!), which is only showing more with time. It looks good and plays well, even if some interface solutions are archaic and using a few of the units is a pain in the ass which it probably wouldn't be nowadays. how time flies), the most important elements of it are still sound. While it has of course aged a bit (it'll be 20 years old next year.

RA2 is one of my favourite RTS titles, probably closing up my Top 5 of all time.

Summary: yup, RA2 is still fun! Also yup, it can still be frustrating! Hard to say how long it took me, probably around 5-6 hours. Completed for the third? fourth? time, on the PC.
